Mendut Temple is located about 3 km from Borobudur Temple, which is a Buddhist temple that is thought to have a close relationship with Pawon Temple and Mendut Temple. The three temples are located in a straight line north-south. Like Borobudur Temple, the geographical environment of Mendut Temple is surrounded by Mount Merapi and Merbabu to the East, Mount Sindoro and Sumbing to the North, and the Menoreh Mountains to the South, and is located between the Progo and Elo Rivers.
