Lawang Sewu is an iconic building in the center of Semarang City, located at Jalan Pemuda No. 160, Semarang. Lawang Sewu is a historical building owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and managed by PT Kereta Api Pariwisata. Initially, Lawang Sewu was the headquarters of the private railway company Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij (NISM). The Lawang Sewu building was constructed in stages on an area of 18,232 m² by different architects under the supervision of Cosman Citroen, an architectural firm founded by Prof. Jakob F. Klinkhamer and B.J. Ouendag.
