Gedung Keuangan Negara
Commonly known as “Gedung Papak,” this historic structure features a modern architectural style from the 1950s. Originally, the site was occupied by Het Groote Huis—a square-shaped building with a flat roof built in 1854, serving as the office of the Dutch Resident. After Semarang became the capital of Central Java Province in 1930, Gedung Papak was repurposed as the governor’s office. However, on the night of November 30, 1954, the building was destroyed by fire, and all important archives were lost, with the cause remaining unknown. The current building was constructed as a replacement, modeled after the State Plantation Headquarters in Jakarta. Since then, it has served as the State Treasury Building, housing government fiscal administration and services.
