Museum Mandala Bhakti
The Mandala Bhakti Museum in Semarang stands as a silent witness to Indonesia’s long struggle for independence. Located across from Tugu Muda and near the iconic Lawang Sewu, the building was originally constructed in 1906 by Dutch architects I. Kuhr E. and van Leeuwen as the Raad van Justitie, the High Court for Europeans in Semarang. During the Japanese occupation, it was repurposed as the Japanese Military Police headquarters. Post-independence, in the 1950s, the building became the headquarters of the Military Region Command II, Kodam IV/Diponegoro. It was officially inaugurated as a museum on March 1, 1985, by Major General Soegiarto.
