Gedung Telkom

The Telkom Building on Jalan Kauman is a historical landmark reflecting the development of Indonesia’s telecommunications infrastructure. Designed in colonial style and built in 1884—coinciding with the start of telephone networks in Semarang—the two-story building originally housed the Dutch postal, telegraph, and telephone service, known as Post-, Telegraaf-, en Telefoondienst (PTT). After Indonesia's independence, the building was taken over by the government and became part of the state-owned Post and Telecommunications Company (PN Postel), which later evolved into PT Telkom Indonesia. Today, it is known as STO Telkom Johar and continues to operate as a telecommunications service center offering internet and phone services.
