Cinta Batik Semarangan
Kampung Batik in Rejomulyo Village, East Semarang, is a historic area reflecting the glory of Semarang's batik industry since the 19th century. During the colonial period, this area was home to batik merchants who marketed their products outside Java. However, on October 17, 1945, the area was destroyed by fire by the Japanese army during the Five-Day Battle of Semarang, which destroyed hundreds of houses. After experiencing a period of decline, revitalization efforts began in 2006 through batik training initiated by the Semarang City Government. One of the training participants, Eko Haryanto, later founded the "Cinta Batik Semarang" brand and became a pioneer in the revival of Semarangan batik. Today, Kampung Batik Gedong is not only a center for batik production with distinctive motifs such as Lawang Sewu, Tugu Muda, and Warak Ngendog, but also a thriving cultural tourism destination. Visitors can admire colorful murals, learn batik-making, and purchase batik products directly from the artisans. Source: Sarwono, M. I. N. S. (2021).
