Peninggalan Sunan Kudus dan Menara Kudus
The tomb of Sunan Kudus is located in Kudus Regency, Central Java. Kudus is an old area, as old as Demak, the first center of Islamic politics and power in Java. Based on the toponyms Langgar Dalem and sengkalan memet, Islamic settlements have appeared in the city of Kudus in the 15th century AD (Salam, 1977: 1). The tomb of Sunan Kudus is behind the mosque and Menara Kudus. Menara Kudus is an iconic building, which is a symbol of the acculturation of Islamic, Javanese, and Chinese architecture. The tomb of Sunan Kudus is in a dome that is not opened every day. This is to maintain the preservation of the tomb of Sunan Kudus. The complex of the tomb and the Menara Kudus mosque is dominated by a distinctive red brick fence. The entrance to the tomb of Sunan Kudus is a bentar temple, followed by a paduraksa temple. It is said that this entrance was feared by officials. They believed that officials who passed through this door would experience bad luck and be demoted. Around the tomb of Sunan Kudus, are the tombs of the family, officials, and religious figures who were descendants of Sunan Kudus in the following periods.
